Establishment of the union

The union was established in 1983 based on a recommendation from the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing. This came after contractor associations from all Arab countries held a preparatory conference in Tunisia in 1982. The founding conference was then held in Casablanca on January 7, 1983, leading to the official announcement of the establishment of the Arab Contractors Union. The union enjoys independent legal personality and operates within the framework of the League of Arab States. It is a member of the specialized Arab federations under the Council of Arab Economic Unity and is also a member of the International Confederation of Contractors Associations (CICA).
